Tennis court spring maintenance

Spring maintenance of clay tennis courts is an annual task for tennis clubs. If you don't hire a company to carry out this work, you can easily perform the spring maintenance yourself using these resources.

The three basic steps are always the same; the only difference is to what extent they incorporate motorized aids into the work.

Scraping off the old brick dust

The first step is to clean the tennis court of leaves, branches and debris that has accumulated over the winter.

Next, the thin top layer of brick dust is scraped from the tennis court surface. This is done with scrapers using a saw blade in aluminum or wood , or with motor assistance from a milling machine or turbo brush .

Ejecting new brick dust

In the next step, fresh brick dust is spread. This is done in the traditional way with a wheelbarrow and shovel, or with a sanding machine .

Also helpful in all tasks is the brick dust shovel , which, with its shape, is ideal for throwing out brick dust and, with its straight edge, does not damage the tennis court surface.

Compacting the tennis court surface

Finally, the tennis court is either rolled with a motorized roller or leveled with a hand planer . Both methods are used and effective in Germany.
